Kürzlich veröffentlichte Stephanie Parker auf »socialmediatoday« einen Artikel, in dem sie sich mit dem Klout-Score auseinandersetzt und fragt: »Hat Klout wirklich Einfluss?«. Anlass für ihre rethorische Frage war eine eigene Umfrage, deren Ergebnis Steph Parker so zusammenfasst:

Have you ever checked your Klout score? […] Almost 71% said no. And, of those who had checked Klout before, only one person found the Klout score “very helpful” (on a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being not helpful and 5 being very helpful). One person – that’s not exactly something to brag about. […] If only a handful of these people have chec­ked Klout before, and only one person found their score helpful… does Klout actually have clout?Zum Abschluss schreibt sie: »Sollten Sie Klout benutzen? Ja, aber verwenden Sie es mit Vorsicht. […] Der “Heilige Gral” der Social-Media-Messung muss erst noch entdeckt werden. […] «

Soweit bekannt, bestimmt Klout den Score rein quantitativ: z. B. Anzahl Follower/ Fans/ Kontakte, Anzahl Reaktionen auf Tweets/ Statusupdates/ Checkins/ Postings und so weiter.
